| Fluoxetine hydrochloride is an antidepressant drug used medically in the treatment of depression, body dysmorphic disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, bulimia nervosa, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, hypochondriasis and panic disorder. Fluoxetine was derived from an antihistamine found to inhibit reuptake of the neurotransmitter serotonin.
